The FHSQ was developed to meet the needs of researchers seeking a reliable way to assess foot health-related quality of life. Its distinctive approach was recognized early on, earning it a national research award in Australia. Today, the FHSQ has become a widely used international research tool, translated into numerous languages and adopted by clinicians, researchers, and students at all levels—including PhD, Masters, and Honours programs. The American Orthopaedic - AO Handbook "Musculoskeletal Outcome Measures and Instruments" by Suk, Hanson, Norvell & Helfet, published by Thieme in 2005 identifies the FHSQ as the most scientifically valid foot and ankle measure of the 25 independently evaluated.
